Frequently
Asked Questions
"How much do the chauffeur driven personalised tours usually cost?"
Based on four travelling our chauffeured tours usually begin at
about $1300 per person per week. These tours include the full
service of your driver / general guide and bed and breakfast accommodation
throughout.
"What
extras have to be paid on the chauffeured tours?"
Lunches, evening meals and entrances to sites of interest. These
tours are land only arrangements but unlike our small group tours,
you can start and finish at locations to suit your flights to
and from Britain.
"If
we booked a Small Group Coach Tour but the group size ended up
as less then six could the tour be upgraded to a chauffeured tour?"
Yes once you book, the tour is guaranteed so if only two or four
are due to depart you will be sharing your own mini van.
"What
are we to expect from our driver on a chauffeured tour?"
On chauffeured tours drivers will start and finish at a time to
suit you, but please bear in mind that for safety reasons we prefer
to limit the day's driving to ten hours. Your driver will give
you an overview of the places you visit and then leave the rest
up to you - an amount of freedom and independence not usually
associated with larger coach tours.
"What
vehicles do you use?"
For chauffeured tours we use six seater air conditioned mini-vans
affording excellent all round visibility. For small group tours
of up to 14 we use mini-coaches with spare seats for added comfort.
"Tell
us about the Meals?"
At hotels and B and Bs you will always have the option of a full
English breakfasts. We will often stop for lunches in cheerful
old country inns along the way. For coach tours evening meals
will be included and for the chauffeured tours we often arrange
dinners for you at the B and Bs or local inns / restaurants.
"Do
you conduct tours just from London and transfers?"
Yes, and our rates for the services we offer are competitive.
"Can
you send us references from satisfied clients?"
Yes of course, just e-mail or send a fax number and we will send
to you several unsolicited references.
"We
sent you an e mail ( or voice mail or whatever ) an hour ago,
when can we expect a reply?"
All enquires are processed within 24 hours if not sooner.
"How
many hotels or B and Bs are we likely to use in, let's say, a
fourteen day tour?"
Well designed itineraries are likely to use fewer B and Bs and
hotels than badly designed itineraries. If you have received a
quotation from another source and they plan to use 10 hotels in
2 weeks, the itinerary has not been planned well and most of your
trip will be spent on a freeway. Lots of one night stops means
you're trying to cram in too much. As a preference we like to
spend a minimum of two nights at each hotel/ B and B.
"Why
should we use The British Bobbies?"
Please take time to read through the rest of the web site and
take us up on our challenge of asking questions about Britain
on the spot. We have many clients in the US who are happy to provide
references on our behalf and we can fax or e-mail you references
too. Our prices remain competitive for the type of service we
offer. We enjoy what we do, it's not just a job and research tells
us that we are probably the most successful team in this sector
of the travel market here in Britain.
"We
have some ideas about where we want to go, can we forward these
to you for you to work on?"
This often happens and works well with us. Guests may have a small
wish list, a large wish list or no wish list at all, but we will
include areas or places you may wish to visit on any itinerary
we design.
"Can
we choose our own hotels?"
By all means, we can just be hired for our driving services. We
will usually give you our honest opinion of any hotels you are
choosing as we may well have used them in the past ourselves.
"Do
you suggest we start or finish the tour in London?"
Personally we feel a city like Bath is a great place to start
any tour of Britain and suggest you have two nights in Bath before
commencing a countryside trip. You could then finish the tour
with a few days in London. Bath will break you in to England at
a more gentle and soothing pace and by the time you leave you'll
feel you know a corner of England quite well already.
