Field View Cottage, once a traditional stone stable, has been sympathetically converted to provide self catering accommodation. Whilst still retaining much of the original character it now benefits from the comfort of under-floor heating and comprises a spacious living room/kitchen, two bedrooms and a bathroom. It is ideal for the less mobile being all on one level.

The living room has an attractive wooden ceiling and original exposed beams. A large wood burning stove with a supply of logs is provided for those who enjoy the delights of a real fire on cooler evenings.

The kitchen area has modern fitted units, gas cooker, microwave, refrigerator and freezer.

The bathroom has a bath, shower, handbasin and toilet.

One bedroom has twin beds and the other a double bed. A cot is available if required. Duvets and bed linen etc. are provided but towels are only supplied to overseas visitors by request.

The cottage has been designed with the needs of those following outdoor pursuits in mind. The hallway is floored with quarry tiles making it ideal for those muddy boots and there is ample hanging space for dripping waterproofs!

There is a private garden area with sturdy picnic table behind the cottage.

Non smokers preferred and we do not normally accommodate dogs.

Organically grown garden produce is available in season and a grocery box can be provided upon request. There is ample parking space and a secure space can be provided for bicycles and motorcycles.

Prices vary from £200 - £320 (GBP) per week depending on season

Wildlife

A wide variety of birds have made their homes in the surrounding hedges and buildings and Red Kites and Buzzards are regularly sighted. Indeed a Red Kite Feeding Centre is only a few miles away in the next village. We have Pied Flycatchers in the nest box behind the house and Redstarts use the holes in the barn walls for their nesting sites. Treecreepers and Nuthatches can be seen climbing the trunks of the mature trees and a Spotted Woodpecker often joins them.

The network of paths and bridleways provide an infinite variety of routes to explore the locality, the lanes are little frequented and can provide unexpected finds in the hedgerow plant life.

Herbs

Beiliglas is also the home to 'Herbs at Myddfai', growing herbs and native flowers. Visitors are welcome to visit the garden and enjoy the aroma of the herbs and the sound of the bees as they work busily around the flowers.

Legend

The legend surrounding the Physicians of Myddfai who inherited their knowledge of herbs from the mythical Lady of Llyn-y-Fan Fach is well known in West Wales and beyond. Today the parish of Myddfai, situated in the NE corner of Carmarthenshire shows little evidence of a distinguished past, but it has inspired Gill Swan to plant a herb garden in memory of the once famous Physicians.
