BLODWEN JERMAN PRIZE

The Association, the oldest society in Wales devoted to the study of the history and archaeology of Wales and the Marches, offers a prize in memory of Mrs Blodwen Jerman, to raise the profile of the Association and to encourage young people to become members.

The prize will be awarded annually for the best dissertation on the history or archaeology of Wales or the Marches, submitted during the previous two* years in any higher education institution, whether in Wales or elsewhere, in successful fulfillment of the requirements of an undergraduate or master's degree.

The first prize shall be a cheque for £150 and three year's free membership of the Association, which includes its prestigious journal, Archaeologia Cambrensis.

At the discretion of the judges runners up may be offered one or two year's free membership of the Association, including the journal.

Entry forms may be obtained from Professor M.E. Chamberlain (Chairman of Trustees), Department of History, Swansea University, Singleton Park, Swansea, SA2 8PP or may be downloaded below. Entries should be sent to Professor Chamberlain at the above address to arrive by 31st December each year. All entries will be returned to candidates after the judging.

The Trustees will appoint a panel of three suitably qualified judges each year.

* As this is a new prize and some people did not hear of it in time to enter in 2006 or 2007, for the 2008 competition, the Trustees will consider any dissertations submitted in 2006-8 inclusive.
